Pilates
I am passionate about Pilates and the benefits it can bring to those who take up the challenge!
Pilates is a series of exercises performed on a mat (initially) that aim to work the deep stabilising muscles of the body’s ‘core’: the deep abdominals, pelvic floor, buttock and shoulder muscles. The exercises are performed slowly and with attention to help the body begin to activate correct muscle groups to support and stabilise the body in its day-to-day activities. Whilst perhaps not being a high intensity cardio-vascular form of exercise, I think it is fair to say that Pilates will definitely challenge you , especially as you move to more advanced levels.
There are many benefits to Pilates: improved posture, reduced incidence of low back and neck pain, improved lung function, stress relief and relaxation. If you are a sports person then Pilates can help to improve the efficiency of your movement during your sport which can help to improve performance and reduce the risk of injury. Most importantly you will always feel great after a Pilates session!
Currently I am offering my classes online via Zoom. (Last update here in October 2023)
You can attend the live class, or I can send out the class recording each week so you can do the class in your own time. This has become quite a popular option for my students who can't always commit to the time of the class.
The live Zoom classes are on:
Wednesdays 10.30 am -a class for any level of experience, beginners welcome.
Classes are usually booked for the term, but you can also pay per class if that works better for you.
Full details of the zoom set-up will be given if you get in touch to enquire.
I also offer in-person 1:1 Pilates classes/sessions, and occasionally run morning workshops so please do ask if you are interested!
